Folsom Lake College Monthly Visits to Oak Ridge
Sarah Aldea, Folsom Lake College Outreach Specialist will be visiting Oak Ridge every 1st Wednesday of the month during lunch.

2009/2010 Community College Events @ Oak Ridge

Seniors who will be attending community college in the fall are encouraged to participate in the following community college events this February and March.

Community College Online Application Workshops in Library Computer Lab (Sign-up) (30 min.)
Monday, February 22nd in B-1 (computer lab adjoining the library).  The application workshop will only take 20 - 30 minutes.


Community College Assessment Testing @ Oak Ridge
(Folsom Lake College/El Dorado Center) (Sierra College will accept FLC's assessment)
Students must APPLY ONLINE prior to taking the assessment
Assessment Testing is required for placement purposes only (English & Math)

Community College Information Day on Thursday, March 25t

This is a very important event for students attending a local community collegel. 
Representatives from the local colleges (Folsom Lake College, American River College, Sacramento City College, Sierra College) are invited to participate.   Format: Formal presentations about each college, followed by 3 to 4 breakout sessions, when students can ask more personalized questions.
Must Sign-up to attend in the Career Center.

Community College Orientation @ Oak Ridge  with a FLC Counselor

(Date to be arranged / Time: 12:25 - 1 PM)

Barbara Van Rooyan, a community college counselor from Folsom Lake College will meet with students intersted in attending either Folsom Lake or El Dorado Center to review assessment results and conduct an orientation session.  Students must sign-up for an appointment in the Career Center. (Space is limited)

Steps to Attending Community College (Fall 2010 as a full-time student
)
1.  Apply online (Apply online - see college links listed below)
2.  Take
English and math placement exams (offered at the community college on an ongoing basis or in February at Oak Ridge)
3.  Meet with community college counselor to help plan your schedule
(the counselor will need your assessment results)
4.  Orientation (overview of services/procedures/services)
5.  Registration for classes

Advanced Education - Current HS Students attending Community College

2.7 Min. GPA, 16 yrs old or finished 10th grade   
Excluded courses are those that are offered at High School during the same semester
Must apply online
Complete an Advanced Education Application found in the counseling office
Meet with ORHS counselor to have agreement signed
Must meet with community college counselor in person to register
Bring a copy of your transcript Students may not take classes at the community college that are offered at ORHS
